Phone PMS

My pink LG clamshell phone [the temp phone before the Nokia C5] decided to go on a PMS strike for the past one week or so. It just refused to let me make or receive calls, and send or receive sms. However, the SIM card seems to be working fine on any other phone. – Must be jealous of the other phone getting all the attention now.

So as a desperate measure, I opted to a full reset of the phone’s setting as a last resort. Much to my relief, it is now in perfect working order. But to my despair, everything is in Mandarin – as this phone was a free gift from a relative in Hong Kong therefore causing the default preset language to be Mandarin. Aaahhhh!!!! On top of that, my written Mandarin is totally HOPELESS!!!!!  - the downsides of being a banana-breed Chinese..

T_______T

Time to do some trial and error in changing back the language to English.. wish me luck.

Shrek – The Final Chapter

Sherk - Forever after posterA

Treated my family to Shrek on Friday evening. Very worth watching, even if it’s just to laugh your head off with the familiar and well loved characters. At the same time, it’s also a refreshment course for philosophies and values of life.

The creators of Shrek have done a great job by giving the story line an interesting twist and adding in characters like Rumpelstiltskin. Puss in Boots has a slightly ‘different’ appearance in this movie, but he’s still so adorable with those ‘big-round-pitiful-begging-eyes’. I shall refrain from further elaborating the story line to avoid spoilers for those of you who have not watch yet.

Shrek-1

Oh yes, two words have been stuck with me since watching the movie. Still have me giggling to myself when I think of it

1)  Ri-donk-ulous  [Ridiculous]

2)  Cat-tastrophe [Catastrophe]

K-Drama – My Fair Lady/ Take Care of The Young Lady

My Fair Lady / Take Care of the Young Lady

Saw this DVD box set over the weekend and was thinking to myself that this seems to be a good series to watch. My instincts proved right as this this has been one of the best Korean Drama Series that I have watched since Princess Hours. Coincidentally, Yoon Eun Hye holds the role of female lead actress in both series. She has certainly come a long way from her first debut in Princess Hours. Then there’s also the cute guy which appears quite often~~ MELTZZZ

Yoon Eun Hye   the cute guy ^_^

My Fair Lady, alternatively known as Take Care Of The Young Lady has a rather balanced combination everything throughout the series. There’s tons of humorous jokes, typical ‘princess’ behaviour paired with glamorous clothes by lead characters. Then there will definitely be a healthy amount of scheming by the bad guys (which normally turns awry), and of course sweet, touching, plus heart breaking romance. The soundtrack is pretty good too. ^_^

characters

There’s only 16 episodes to this series and the storyline moves pretty fast which is pretty good. This means that things won’t get too draggy or too ‘emo’. I’ve still got two more episodes before finally finishing this series.. Can’t wait to see what actually happens in the end, although I have a pretty good guess as to the most likely outcome. So for the Korean Drama series lovers who have not watched this series yet, it is very worth considering.

Through the crystal clear lenses

Got a new pair of glasses today… It was like a revelation when I put them on as the world suddenly became crystal clear again. Almost as good as my first experience wearing contact lens.. Must be the kind of lenses the optician used this time. Apparently it’s suppose to give better protection to the eyes especially since my astigmatism seems to be increasing.

Frame Pattern

In all, am totally loving my new glasses. There’s a rather solid feel to it due to the design of the frame but at the same time, not too heavy for long hour usage as well. Then there’s the great lenses paired with a white frame which really makes a great combination. Hope it’ll last me for a long time. ^_^

Speedometer

Travelled a total of 58000++ kilometres with this old faithful car of mine. From convoy drives to almost every part of Malaysia, to just simply getting around university and on occasions. going out for mamak sessions. Many memories come to mind whenever I get behind the wheel.

This car has not only been a medium of transport but also provided refuge when I needed a quiet spot. And also not forgetting, the numerous occasions when it became a sanctuary for discussion or ber-emo among close friends while on a drive.

So much of laughter, joy, tears, consolation, encouragement and ambition were shared amongst friends in this car. Some who were ‘fair weathered’ friends, some friends of opportunity.. But the most important of all are most definitely the trustworthy and true friends who were with me through the many uncountable adventures we had with this car.

Here’s to cherishing the fond memories with my little Kembara car. ^_^

Starting from Reunion dinner, the following days have been pretty much eating, eating, and more eating. Sometimes, I feel like my stomach can explode from all the intake of food despite the small quantities I’m taking. Albeit that, accumulatively it all seems to be crowding and taking up so much of my tummy space.

Coincidentally, the majority of us cousins are also dressed in shocking red or something with shocking red in our dress code. It’s been quite a while since the whole bunch of us have taken group photos. So now’s our big chance now that everyone is dressed up nice and proper..

1,2, SMILE!!! ~~~

and suck in all those tummies sucked with food peeps. We need to hide all the evidence of our food indulgence. :-P

Glenn and John - both with really cute expressions

One of the best things when we have these huge gatherings back at grams house is that we’re the chief of the kitchen once the ‘eating ceremony’ has commenced. Yeap, that’s right, we’re the dish-scrubbers, dish-rinsers, dish-wipers and dish-keepers ~~ specializing in the cleaning of plates, cutlery as well as pots and pans. Since there’s so many of us, and so many dishes to clean, we actually work in shifts.

The gals

Despite the mountain high pile of dishes, we thoroughly enjoy ourselves by catching up, joking, splashing water and laughing our heads off. Definitely moments to be treasured.

Hooked On New Series

Vampire related movies, series and books seem to be ‘the in thing’ lately. So anyway, someone was promoting this series called The Vampire Diaries to me yesterday. So I decided to check it out.

http://www.musingcontinuum.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/the-vampire-diaries-1.jpg

The storyline is somehow similar to Twilight but yet with a different twist. One thing is for certain though, the guys in this series are way hotter *SIZZLE*. Apart from that, the heroine known as Elena (Nina Dobrev) is definitely prettier and has better acting skills.

Got to admit that some of the ‘jumping scenes’ did make me squeal a little some times. Oh yes, most of the scenes of this movie is set during daytime so there’s not so much of those dark and dim scenes normally associated with vampire shows. Different, but not a bad idea.

http://weblogs.wpix.com/entertainment/gossipguy/the-vampire-diaries-cast-picture.jpg

Only watched till episode 4 so far and waiting for the subsequent episodes to finish downloading. So for you people who are interested in vampire stuff, I would say this series is worth a try for leisure watching.

Dim Sum for Supper~~

Chee Cheong Fun

Fried - Char Siew Pau

One of the things that I miss when I’m back in KL is the late night dim sum that’s available near Keledang. Sure it’s not something that’s awesomely fantastic, its simply a wonderful place to hang out with friends for a porky pork supper, chit chat, drink tea and enjoy the night breeze.

Although it’s a good half and hour’s drive from campus, the joy ride there is still worth while with a good company of friends. All it takes is just a call to say “Jom Dim Sum!!!!” and off we go. ^_^

Fond Memories~~~

Some Noodle combination - sorry, can't remember the name.

It has been a rather eventful New Year’s Day I would say. To start off, I’m only in the recovery stages of a horrible fever and allergy reaction. Still rather deprived of food especially rice. I miss rice T_T

So since I’m confined at home, I’ve been entertaining myself by playing with my pet in petsociety. Mainly redecorating my ‘house’ and ‘Shopping’

petsociety - mainroom

petsociety -kitchen

I also had this really weird dream last night which doesn’t really make much sense. The bits and pieces which I remember is the part where I wearing this pink flowing dress, and dancing – or waltzing to be more exact with a the least likely person. So much for dreaming big being over imaginative.

For once, I’m actually rather relaxed during New Year. Can’t slack too much though because there’s still some things I need to figure out soon. I might not show it physically but my brain seems to be working over time without me realizing it.

Happy New Year all. Hoping it will be a joyous, prosperous and blessed New Year.

Home – Best Place to be

First and foremost peeps, I lost my phone on my recent trip to Langkawi and therefore, it also means that all of my contacts in the phonebook are gone as well. So I would be most grateful if you people reading this could send me a text stating your name so that I can save your contact details for a start. Thanks!!

So far, this has been one of the most relaxing holidays throughout my past five years at university. This is most probably because somewhere in my head I’m telling myself ‘Enjoy it while you can’ so there’s definitely no complains here.

Although I must admit, there are two things that I sorely miss since the time I’ve been back here in KL.

The first would be the sense of independence to be my own boss – to eat, sleep, play and do things according to my own schedule which certainly does not work when staying with one’s family.

Then there’s the Maggi Goreng from Salam Corner that I really really crave for… (T_T)

Well, I guess its a really small price to pay for the time and fun (plus occasional lectures) with my family members making up for the times when I was away at university.

Just sharing some pictures that I took at Damai Laut for a project visit.. A trial and error effort here. ^_^

Just some basic background for some of you who might be wondering where on earth this place is. Damai Laut is in fact a 4-star golf and spa country resort located in Lumut, Perak. One of the best places to stay for a relaxing, calm and quiet retreat with easy access to Pangkor Island. The drive to get there is rather winding and it’s approximately a 8km drive off the main road. You might be wondering if you’ll land up in a jungle during the drive but trust me, the place is actually quite fantastic and like a little fully equipped village on it’s own.

Water Shortage + Sleep Deprieved

10/06/2009 09:49:00 PM

Just got hit by a wave of ‘randomness’. So here goes

There was a serious water shortage at the V5 girls block from Thursday evening all the way till Monday afternoon / evening. This is definitely a NOT fun situation to be in. It was super inconvenient to go to the toilet, shower, wash face, boil drinking water and a bunch of other stuff that’s related to water. So basically, most (if not all) of us girls staying in V5 were going ‘pickled’.

Thank goodness the water supply was finally restored yesterday and hopefully it remains that way too for the remainder of the semester. Been rather embarrassed to go hunting and borrowing friends / juniors bathrooms out of desperation. So when the water finally came back online, I made sure I go a really really good scrub.

Sleep deprivation is the side effects of accumulated stress + piled up work + partial unproductiveness during the weekends. Well eventually, we definitely got the job done. But ended up going to class looking like zombies + swollen allergy reaction eye , attempt to answer quiz that didn’t have time to study for and struggled to stay awake during class.

I guess the MOST unfortunate part of the sleep deprivation is the part where I get super clumsy. In my haste to rush to the car and start heading back to uni after printing the poster, I dropped my thumbdrive into a murky, weird smelling, garbage infested water filled drain. Thank goodness I managed to retrieve the thumbdrive. But fishing around the drain with my hand for it is not something I am keen to re-live even though it is very funny come to think of it.

Here I come my darling bed.. I’ve missed you last night!!! (^_^)

1 More Week

The past few weeks have been really hectic and filled with lots of assignments, datelines, tests and everything else thats associated with Uni life.

Finally managed to finish my Final Year Project Progress report late friday evening and handed it up just in time. Short of a few figures here and there, I’d say it was a pretty good report done. Hopefully my Godfather thinks so too.

Camy and I were really pressured for the few days before the progress report was due. We finally went a little crazy after submitting the report on Friday evening.

So now, it’s one more week of all those hectic mambo jumbo before we head down south to Johor for the much awaited Inter Campus Gathering (ICG). The last two ICGs were really fun and hoping that the same applies for this one. Going to be convoying down with the bunch of other CSS members. Praying and hoping for good traffic.

Okay, back to work now for Operations Management

My cozy comfy bed (^_^)

Back once more to my university to continue with final semester after one week of forced holiday. Was seriously reluctant to come back after spending a relaxing week back home in KL. but i guess my room isn’t so bad after all. Definitely miss my roomie even though we seem to be operating in different time zones.

Its the usual drill when back from a leave from university. Sweeping, wiping, mopping and laundry. So now I have my room back in perfect order. Nice and cozy.

Want to laze on the bed like my doggie.

The philosophy for this semester is to finish as much work as possible OUT of the room. And have total relaxation when back in the room. (^_^) [Except in unforeseen circumstances of course which hopefully wouldn’t be often.] A good example of what to do in the room would be to lounge in my bed like my doggie.

Major Ant Infestation

7/17/2009 03:41:00 PM

I only officially began unpacking my room today. Whilst bringing out the boxes which were packed in the topmost cupboard, I came across a majorly gigantic ant hill in the making. All members of this particular ant family were stuck to the furthest end of the cupboard. [which of course I couldn’t reach to wipe or shoo away effectively while they are still up and scurrying around.]

Therefore, out comes my trusty Shieldtox to create a ‘smokehouse’ for the ANTS… muahahaha… Back to cleaning up their carcasses now. Should be well knocked out after the 15 minute smoking. Hoping that’s the last of the lot.

UTP - The Final Stretch

I am once again back in UTP. This would be the final semester of my degree program. Looking back, although there were plenty of datelines, complaining, peer pressure, and even some cat fights along the way, it’s been a great four and a half years. Met lots of people, and said and almost equivalent amount of goodbyes for one reason or another. And it’s definitely the time where I’ve done the most travelling.

One more semester filled with Final Year ‘Problem’ (FYP), tests and assignments to plough through. Then, it will be, FREEDOM! I might actually miss UTP after all is done. But that’s a worry for another day I suppose.

PS: Will try to update the posts on KL outings ASAP. Keeping my fingers crossed for acceptable internet connection in the hostel.

My Beloved Canon G10 Camera

7/15/2009 12:34:00 AM

It’s been a super super busy day. Had fun, ate a lot, laughed till verging on the borderline cackling of a lot. Was annoyed with the traffic and the car park system. Last but not least, got super frustrated over my forgetfulness.

Will further elaborate about the first few parts in the following posts, but for now just really want to ramble about my forgetfulness. Always been rather forgetful in every sense of the word. But today of all days I actually forgot to bring my camera out for dinner. [Since it’s my mom’s birthday we were going somewhere nice for dinner]

canon-g10-front

Although I’ve only had my camera for a little more than half a year, I’ve grown very attached to it. It has served me well thus far all the way from Malaysia to Hong Kong and many other places locally as well. It’s a great camera aside from being handy and easy to manage. I rarely need to do any modification to the pictures taken aside from some occasional cropping if i require a close up view [normally only the case for profile pictures]

If you’ve scanned through my blog before, I’m sure most of you would notice that I LOVE blogging about food. Love everything from tasting, savoring, trying new things and taking pictures to blog about the experience. Especially the taking pictures part.

Since I FORGOT the camera tonight, had to resort to using my phone – the good old Sony Ericsson W810i 2.0MP phone to take pictures of all the ‘goodies’ we tried tonight. *Sigh*

Sad but true. The pictures are fairly okay considering it’s from a phone camera. But it’s still better than nothing. Sincerely regretful about the situation but hope you’ll bear with the picture quality.

Same or Not

I came across this book with a rather interesting front cover at the bookstore when shopping with my sister a few days back. So now, take a good look at the picture of the guy and girl on the front cover.

Book Front Cover

So, being a fanatic over korean drama series some time back, I remember watching this series called ‘Love Story in Harvard’.

‘Love Story in Harvard’ was a rather big hit at some time and so technically when one Googles up picture for that particular series, there will definitely be plenty of search results. I remember seeing a picture of the two main cast of the series which was somewhat similar to that of the front cover of the book above.

Below is a comparison of the two pictures. In my humble and personal opinion, they both look pretty much the same to me. Neglecting the colour pencil effect and the rose which drawn just above the authors name that is.

Book Front cover closeup

lovestoryha_02_s

I didn’t actually purchase the book so I’m not sure if it is an actual translation of the series into a Malay Language book [which would explain the similarity of the pictures]. Perhaps I should have purchased the book to appease my curiosity after all.
