DREAMS AND MEMORIES

First and foremost peeps, I lost my phone on my recent trip to Langkawi and therefore, it also means that all of my contacts in the phonebook are gone as well. So I would be most grateful if you people reading this could send me a text stating your name so that I can save your contact details for a start. Thanks!!

So far, this has been one of the most relaxing holidays throughout my past five years at university. This is most probably because somewhere in my head I’m telling myself ‘Enjoy it while you can’ so there’s definitely no complains here.

Although I must admit, there are two things that I sorely miss since the time I’ve been back here in KL.

The first would be the sense of independence to be my own boss – to eat, sleep, play and do things according to my own schedule which certainly does not work when staying with one’s family.

Then there’s the Maggi Goreng from Salam Corner that I really really crave for… (T_T)

Well, I guess its a really small price to pay for the time and fun (plus occasional lectures) with my family members making up for the times when I was away at university.

 

 

Just randomly took a shot out of the KTM window on the ride back to Batu Gajah from KL Sentral. Somehow I’m always attracted to take pictures of the blue blue sky with cotton wool like clouds. ^_^

Just sharing some pictures that I took at Damai Laut for a project visit.. A trial and error effort here. ^_^

Just some basic background for some of you who might be wondering where on earth this place is. Damai Laut is in fact a 4-star golf and spa country resort located in Lumut, Perak. One of the best places to stay for a relaxing, calm and quiet retreat with easy access to Pangkor Island. The drive to get there is rather winding and it’s approximately a 8km drive off the main road. You might be wondering if you’ll land up in a jungle during the drive but trust me, the place is actually quite fantastic and like a little fully equipped village on it’s own.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Went to Camerons to de-stress amidst the green and lush environment on the day off. Somehow manage to bring back a piece of it to use as my wallpaper. ^_^

I know it’s nothing fantastic. It’s not even a flower or something delicious and edible. Just a close-up look of the leaves of some Christmas tree like tree at the Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation [rather challenging drive to get there and not for the faint hearted drivers]. But somehow, green things just tend to grab my attention and I’m simply loving this picture. Let me know what you people out there think of this shot.

Just got hit by a wave of ‘randomness’. So here goes

There was a serious water shortage at the V5 girls block from Thursday evening all the way till Monday afternoon / evening. This is definitely a NOT fun situation to be in. It was super inconvenient to go to the toilet, shower, wash face, boil drinking water and a bunch of other stuff that’s related to water. So basically, most (if not all) of us girls staying in V5 were going ‘pickled’.

Thank goodness the water supply was finally restored yesterday and hopefully it remains that way too for the remainder of the semester. Been rather embarrassed to go hunting and borrowing friends / juniors bathrooms out of desperation. So when the water finally came back online, I made sure I go a really really good scrub.

Sleep deprivation is the side effects of accumulated stress + piled up work + partial unproductiveness during the weekends. Well eventually, we definitely got the job done. But ended up going to class looking like zombies + swollen allergy reaction eye , attempt to answer quiz that didn’t have time to study for and struggled to stay awake during class.

I guess the MOST unfortunate part of the sleep deprivation is the part where I get super clumsy. In my haste to rush to the car and start heading back to uni after printing the poster, I dropped my thumbdrive into a murky, weird smelling, garbage infested water filled drain. Thank goodness I managed to retrieve the thumbdrive. But fishing around the drain with my hand for it is not something I am keen to re-live even though it is very funny come to think of it.

Going on CSS trips have always been fun. Although difficult to organize and coordinate because of the large groups of people, It has always been worth the effort. Part of this trip was to have a tour around Melacca in our journey down to Plentong, Johor for our Inter Campus Gathering 2009.

 

Although it was fun to drive down in the company of friends, it was definitely one super uber tiring drive. Even for the drive from UTP down to Melaka with me having to stop in KL for my passport [which in the end wasn’t used because the trip down to Singapore failed to materialize], I was exausted. Nevertheless, one closed door opens up other opportunities for different experiences.

 

Our first stop, Melacca was filled with anticipation, excitement and most definitely hunger – for both food and adventure. I still remember that on our way to the Satay Celup shop, everyone was so caught up in the ‘Pasar Malam’ hype along Jonker Street. For that same reason, that we had people stopping here, there everywhere to start buying food, drinks and other stuff which can be found along the long row of shops. In the end, Camy had to play the role of a shepherdess to herd everyone back and track and head single mindedly for dinner. Waiting for dinner places at the satay celup place definitely took long but every minute was definitely worth the wait.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After dinner, we headed back to the ‘Pasar Malam’ to continue shopping. Temptations were definitely every along the whole street. Being a girl, I would definitely, naturally be attracted to things like earrings, sparkly baubbles, hair clips, t-shirts and whatever else you can think off. Of course there is also all the food stalls with the seductive smells wafting up from cook pots.

 

 

Despite all the shopping and eating done our first night at Melacca, we were still very spirited to go exploring around the famous historical spots of Melacca. A hearty breakfast of ‘Dim Sum’ was enjoyed before we started out of course. Spots like Dutch Square, A-Famosa were not to be missed at all costs. So we went hiking, exploring, chilled out with some McDonalds Sundae at Dataran Pahlawan Mall and headed back on for the Chicken Rice Balls [a specialty of Melacca] back at Jonker Street. Next stop Plentong, Johor for ICG 2009!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Probably my expectations for the recent ICG were rather high in comparison to the past two ICGs organized by the different coordinating councils. Thus there were certain aspects which were rather unfulfilling on a personal level but might have been enjoyable for others. But still I would say job well done to the organizing committee for their time and dedication towards the event. There is most certainly still room for improvements. But I would dare say that the CSSUTPians made the best out of every circumstance and situation – [that’s how we end up with so many syiok sendiri pictures after all. ^_^] 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since we were all the way down South in Johor already, we decided to do some exploring in The Zone  and Danga Bay area for the half day we had left. Didn’t really get to try out the local food around here since there weren’t any among us who were very familiar with this part of Peninsular. Danga Bay was a rather rewarding place as it gave me a chance to explore more on night photography with Edgar as my part time tutor/ accidental model on occasions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since the Singapore trip had to be forfeited, we were initially rather sad about it. But anyway, no regrets as we now had another reason to head back up north for Round 2 of Melacca. This second trip was just as fun as the first in a different way. Somehow, this trip was more relaxed but we were still tempted with all that Jonker Street had to offer even though passing it numerous times already.

I was certainly glad to head home on the 7th day of our entire trip for the sake of my own personal toilet. No offence meant here people, but Home’s toilet is always the best for whatever toilet business. ^_^ But I most certainly enjoyed the trip to the maximum while it lasted. Hopefully our next planned trip/s to Camerons and Langkawi will work out. Keeping our fingers crossed here.

 

Camerons & Langkawi!!! Here we come!!!

It has simply been an amazingly awesome week on the whole. Though there were ups and downs, tired times and happy times, I would say that there has been a good balance and combination of everything.

This week has been full of ‘First Time’ incidents. First time:

1) Having such a long consecutive road trip

2) Driving down to Johor

3) Cramming with Camy into the top deck of a bunk bed [which is actually meant for 1 person only]

4) Practically living out of a luggage bag

5) Feeling so drained out every night that I drift off to Slumberland almost as soon as I hit the bed

6) Snapping so many pictures for 7 consecutive days

7) Setting up my Camera with the Tripod myself – after some tutorials from Edgar of course.

8) Attempting night photography of moving lights

9) Tasting Chocolate with really strong alcohol encased within

10) Finding my way based solely on instincts and without a map – who says girls have a bad sense of direction ^_^

All in all, a wonderful trip with plenty of memorable experiences and moments. :-)

The entire road trip was mainly a means for us to reach Johor for the Inter Campus Gathering (ICG) 2009. Lucky me, I get to attend all 3 ICGs organized by the 3 Coordinating Councils. The past few weeks have been really hectic and filled with lots of assignments, datelines, tests and everything else thats associated with Uni life.

Finally managed to finish my Final Year Project Progress report late friday evening and handed it up just in time. Short of a few figures here and there, I’d say it was a pretty good report done. Hopefully my Godfather thinks so too.

Camy and I were really pressured for the few days before the progress report was due. We finally went a little crazy after submitting the report on Friday evening.

So now, it’s one more week of all those hectic mambo jumbo before we head down south to Johor for the much awaited Inter Campus Gathering (ICG). The last two ICGs were really fun and hoping that the same applies for this one. Going to be convoying down with the bunch of other CSS members. Praying and hoping for good traffic.

Okay, back to work now for Operations Management

 

CSS FAMILY DAY 2009!!!

 

 

The weather was simply wonderful for a day of games and songs in the sun. We had so much fun playing, mixing around and singing. Guess one can tell from all the big grins and smiles captured in the photos. ^_^  This is going to be something I’ll miss after leaving UTP. Job well done to the excos.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The name of this place came about from the direct translation of it’s name from Cantonese to English. It’s only my second time to this place but still the experience is absolutely fulfilling. Especially because there is porridge served at this place – my all time favorite

Anyway, this place in Ipoh is an absolutely wonderful place for breakfast and lunch. They’ve got a variety of noodles and things of that sort as well. The highlight among all would of course be the fried ‘Yong To Fu’ like dishes.

Went to this hawkers center near the Stadium Indera Putera after dropping by the Ipoh PC fair for 40 minutes. practically starving when we reached the hawkers center. Since only Cres and Bart were with me, it was only natural that I speak Sabahan bahasa with them (something that I’ve picked up throughout my years at University) asking them what noodles they wanted to eat.

 

Proceeding to the lady boss of the fried kuey teow stall to place my order, I started to make my orders in fluent cantonese. This is what happened after I finished placing my order.

(Puzzled) Yes. I am Chinese.

Owhh.. They why were you speaking Malay Language with your friends then?

Owh, they’re from Sabah, not Chinese and normally speak Bahasa or English only. (Sorry here Bart, easier to explain to the lady by saying you’re not chinese instead of explaining to her that you’re half chinese and the whole long story and we’ll end up not getting our dinner)

I see. So what’s your order again? And urmmm… can they take pork?

Settling back at our table, I noticed that some neighboring table people were staring at the bunch of us in total shock. :-P

Probably surprised that a bunch of non chinese looking people speaking Bahasa, suddenly order food in Cantonese, and asked for ‘lap cheong’ in the noodles as well.
