Went down to Klang with my mom and a friend to settle some things. So while we were there, we decided to go try the famous Klang ‘Bak Kut Teh’. However, we were faced with the slight problem of not knowing which one to try. So after a phone call to a local friend, we made our way to a certain ‘kopitiam’ located some where further away from town.

Klang Claypot Bak Kut Teh - there's mixed meat, ribs and quails eggs

It was about 11 plus in the morning when we reached the ‘kopitiam’. According to the shop owner, the portion served to us was practically the last serving for 3 left in his pot. If we had come any later, then it would have been just to bad and we would have to go back on an empty stomach.

Despite having only the ‘Bak Kut Teh’ and white rice for brunch, it was very satisfying. Best part was of course the soup which was thick and tasty. Yummy Yummy!!

Sunday’s are normally ‘Eat-Out’ days for my family. Especially for dinner. So yesterday, we decided to do some gallivanting around the Taman Kuchai Jaya area – just off Jalan Kuchai Lama. The area is practically a foodie haven as there’s just about anything available to try there. From Western food to noodles, seafood etc.

Since we weren’t really sure what to go with, we decided to pick a shop that has a considerable amount of patrons eating inside. So after one round, we decided to give this shop called ‘Hot Pot Bone Essence’  a try. It was located right at the end of the road so we nearly missed it too at first.

Signature Pork Broth - with our added selection of vegetables and meat.

So anyway, as we first stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted by the aromatic smell of soup. It was simply delightful. And as we were making our way to a table further back in the shop, I took a quick glance around the tables to see what were the common favourites of the other patrons. We were then given a menu – similar to Old Town Kopitiam Style – to pick, select and mark and select from.

Fresh pork slices - absolutely delicious and the best for me.

There’s a whole lot of things to choose from. So playing it safe, we decided to just try i serving of each of the signature dishes – assuming that you can’t go wrong since it’s supposed to be highly recommended. And of course, we picked the signature Pork Bone Broth for our soup.

Here’s a glimpse of some of the dishes we ordered. ^_^

#1 Highlight of the night - 'Fresh Pork slices' rolled artfully on a plate.

#2 Highlight of the night - 'Homemade Pork Ball' which was absolutely well done and when boiled to perfection over a slow flame in the soup makes you keep wanting more.

Pork Roll Needle Mushroom - Needle Mushroom rolled up with smaller cuts of fresh pork slices.

Carrot Juce & Orange Juice

Awesome dinner pallette

The price at this place is pretty reasonable too. On average, it only cost about RM20.00 per-person for such a fulfilling dinner – excluding drinks. So for those of you looking for a reasonable, comfortable and serves extra yummy fresh slices of pork steamboat place, do go and check out this place. The soup is simply awesome and I’m sure you would all agree that the soup is the most important ingredient of all when eating steamboat. The address is as follows.

Belgian Sausage Platter - A Mixed Sausage Platter Served With Dripping Sauce

Just discovered this really awesome place for lunch last week.  Although, when I first chanced upon this place, it was actually really late at night. However, I noticed that they did have a rather interesting Set Lunch Menu and I promised myself to come back and try. To offer more variety, there are two different kinds of set lunch. One which is priced at RM 14.90++ and the other at RM20++.

Creamy Mushroom Soup

The RM14.90++ set lunch are mainly a wide variety of Panini Sandwiches. From your regular bacon and cheese Panini Sandwich to various different styles of bacon and some even have peaches in them. Definitely going to try it the next round. For you pork and bacon lovers out there, you should definitely check this place out.

Coffee Latte With Extra Sugar

As for the RM 20.00++ set lunch, it basically goes by week number of the month. Every week, there are 3 different choices of Main course to choose from accompanied with your selection of soft drink from the menu. So far, I’ve only tried the Spaghetti Roast Pork Aglio-Olio With White Wine from the WEEK 3 menu selection. I did chance to peep at the Braised Lamb Shank and Pan Seared Pacific Cod which was served to my neighbouring table – and belief me when I say it looks absolutely mouth-wateringly-delicious.

Spaghetti Roast Pork Aglio-Olio With White Wine

For the benefit of those of you who are considering this place for lunch sometime in the near future, the following is the RM20.00++ set lunch menu list.

WEEK 1

  • The famous chicken cordon Bleu with lemon and stoemp
  • Crispy battered fish with lemon grass scented spicy tomato coulis and raisin pilaf rice
  • Pork meatball penne with pomodoro sauce

WEEK 2

  • Grilled lamb chop with stoemp and mint juice
  • German bratwurst with stoemp and onion gravy
  • Crab meat spaghetti with rose sauce

WEEK 3

  • 4 hours slow braised lamb shank with potato mousseline
  • Pan seared pacific cod with green pea mash and caviar hollandaise
  • Spaghetti Roast Pork Aglio-Olio with white wine

WEEK 4

  • Tequila sunrise chicken chop with sauté potato and mushroom gizzard sauce
  • Pork schnitzel with forbidden love sauce and scallions potato
  • Spicy clam fettuccine pasta with white wine and cream (vongole)

NOTE: if you plan to share without ordering anything else, there is an additional charge of RM9.80++, so personally, I think it is more worthwhile to order something else from the Ala-carte menu.

Brussels Pork Bacon and Cheese Burger

Apparently one of the things not to be missed when dining at Brussels would be the Brussels Pork Bacon with Cheese Burger – which looks and taste absolutely fabulous as you can see from the picture below. One serving can easily feed two people especially if you’re a petite eater. Unfortunately, this is not available on the set lunch menu. But still, it is not to be missed.

One Of The Mix Sausage With Cheese Filling

So if you’re a real porky pork lover like me, or simply looking for a place to chill and have some beer with friends, Brussels is most certainly a place to try.

Will get back to the Taiwan trip official post after this.. for now, let’s fast forward to this outing with my girlfriends. It’s definitely been a while since I went on a trip with them. So this outing has given us a great opportunity to catch up, have fun together and take lots and lots of photos for memories. Many thanks to Win Ann who extended the invitation to us – including Natalie ^_^

Group Photo at Dragon Fruit Farm

Group Photo - thanks to the photographer for helping us with this picture. ^_^

I took a total of 636 shots on my camera for that trip.. A real record breaker, considering it’s a one day trip. So after several times of filtering, I finally managed to reduce it to approximately 447 shots. We visited quite a number of places for a one day trip.

1.  Dragon Fruit and Passion Fruit Farm

2.  Longan Fruit Farm

3.  Tapioca Factory

4.  ‘Hai Yew Heng’ Pau places

5.  Ganofarm Mushroom Showroom

6.  Sepang Gold Coast Beach

And last but not least, the wonderful lunch and dinner place were superbly awesome food was served.
